JAKARTA, Indonesia, 15 July, 2025 – Cisco, the global leader in networking and security, today announced a series of strategic initiatives that aim to advance and power Indonesia’s AI future. The initiatives support the nation’s bold steps toward inclusive innovation, sovereign secure infrastructure, and global competitiveness.
The announcements follow CEO Chuck Robbins and President and Chief Product Officer Jeetu Patel’s recent visit to Indonesia where they engaged with key industry leaders to discuss the opportunities in Indonesia’s digital economy, emerging trends in AI and cybersecurity, and how Cisco can support the nation’s digital transformation.
“Indonesia is an important market for Cisco and stands as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies,” said Bee Kheng Tay, President, Cisco ASEAN. “As AI takes centerstage, the next era of technology leadership will be driven by organizations with secure infrastructure and a skilled workforce to power it. Building on over 25 years of collaboration with Indonesia’s public and private sectors, we are thrilled to deepen our support for Indonesia’s AI and cybersecurity ambitions through our latest initiatives with BRIN, Komdigi, IOH, and NVIDIA.”
Building Indonesia’s AI and cybersecurity future with BRIN
Cisco and the National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia (BRIN) will work together to advance AI and security in Indonesia. Developed under Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration program (CDA) program in Indonesia, the initiative advances Cisco’s long-standing commitment to Indonesia’s digital transformation and will focus on the following:
- Advancing research and innovation: Cisco will provide relevant equipment and technical expertise to enable advanced research in areas such as secure AI infrastructure, cybersecurity, and networking.
- Building an innovative ecosystem: Cisco and BRIN will help build an innovative ecosystem in AI and cybersecurity, promoting synergies between the research center and related industries.
- Developing digital talent: Through Cisco’s Networking Academy (NetAcad) program, both parties will promote capacity building and develop a strong talent pool, in line with global industry standards, to empower the nation’s digital transformation.
“Together with Cisco, we are mobilizing our strengths to advance Indonesia’s innovation landscape and national digital development”, said Dr. Anto Satriyo Nugroho, Head of the Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity. “By combining BRIN’s research expertise with Cisco’s global technology capabilities, we aim to support Indonesia’s progress in AI and cybersecurity innovation and contribute to long-term economic development.”
Cisco to provide secure infrastructure for Indonesia’s AI Center of Excellence
Cisco announced two key initiatives to support Indonesia’s digital aspirations:
- Supporting Komdigi in anchoring Indonesia’s AI Center of Excellence: Powered by NVIDIA technology, secured by Cisco infrastructure, and supported by Indosat, the AI Center of Excellence lays the foundation for sovereign innovation, inclusive talent development, and a future-ready AI ecosystem. As part of the effort, Cisco will securely power the AI Centre of Excellence with a Sovereign Security Operations Center (SOC) Cloud Platform, powered by Indonesia’s first-ever local instance of Splunk and Managed Security Services, to protect Indonesia’s digital assets and intellectual property.
- Skills training for 500,000 Indonesians by 2030: Cisco will provide training in areas such as AI, cybersecurity, and networking through NetAcad to create a future-ready workforce to power the digital economy.
Since 1998, Cisco has trained over half a million Indonesians through NetAcad in critical digital skills that support the nation’s economic development in partnership with institutes of higher learning. One of the longest-standing IT skills-to-jobs programs in the world, NetAcad provides high-quality IT and cybersecurity courses, learning simulators, and hands-on learning opportunities via a learning platform to support instructors and engage learners in Indonesia and worldwide.
