Milan, May 9th 2019 – Cisco announced plans to open a new Cisco Center of Excellence and Co-Innovation center, focusing on Privacy and Cybersecurity, to be located in Milan, Italy.

“Today, companies and countries are accelerating the transformation of their operations and business models based on data. Data is the critical asset at the center of digitization, and must be protected,” – said Agostino Santoni, Managing Director, Cisco Italy. “This new co-innovation center, dedicated to the latest technologies that enable privacy and cybersecurity, is therefore a key addition to our overall efforts to support digitization in Italy through our Country Digital Acceleration program Digitaliani,” he added.

The center of excellence and Co-Innovation Center in Milan will be part of Cisco’s global network of Co-Innovation Centers. It will bring together customers, industry partners, startups, developers, government organizations and the academic community into an open ecosystem, working to solve real-world business and social problems to help increase security, privacy and trust in the digital era.

Catalyst for secure digitization

The center will focus on key aspects of Cybersecurity, including complex supply chains, IoT technologies, critical country infrastructures like utilities,  smartgrids and 5G; as well as Public Digital Services with embedded security.

The center will include solution demo areas and collaborative research spaces, where new ideas and concepts will be co-created and tested.

Based on the collaboration with Italian innovators, the Co-Innovation Center will also connect innovative companies with Cisco DevNet, a platform with more than 500,000 developers. This will allow network engineers and developers to learn and code trustworthy IoT solutions on top of secure programmable infrastructures. The official opening of the center is planned for 2020.
