A CMX Partner Ecosystem Blog
Ecosystem partners are an important adjunct to Cisco Connected Mobile Experience (CMX). They augment the analytic and customer engagement capabilities of the solution with innovative business and/or industry-specific features. This blog is one in a continuing series that will highlight several of our CMX Ecosystem Partners. Today—Phunware.
Based in Austin, Texas, Phunware is a Cisco Solutions partner and leader in the Mobile as a Service industry (MaaS). The Phunware platform enables businesses to use mobility to engage, manage, and monetize their customers.
The Phunware Venue Solution is fully integrated with Cisco Connected Mobile Experience (CMX) and built upon Phunware’s Multiscreen as a Service (MaaS) platform. This solution creates an immersive, on-site mobile experience for all iOS and Android devices. Key benefits include:

Ready for Takeoff
The Ft. Lauderdale deployment is expected to be live later in 2015. Once it is, it will be another successful example of how Cisco and its ecosystem partners—in this case, Phunware—continually add greater value for location-based services.
Flight information is also made available to the application using an XML feed from the airport. Flight status can be searched by flight number, time, airline, or destination. In the future, the application will be integrated with airline loyalty applications so customers’ flight information is automatically loaded and they can receive flight notifications when they’re on site.
Air travel can be stressful even for the most seasoned travelers. But with the free Phunware application downloaded to an Apple or Android smartphone, passengers could eliminate some of that uncertainty. The airport maps are all cached in the application so travelers can preview the location of key points of interest such as check-in desks, parking lots, security checkpoints, and restaurants—even when they’re on their in-bound flight or on their way to the airport. Once on the ground, the customer can input their current location in the application and get turn-by-turn directions to any points of interest.
The Ft. Lauderdale Airport approached Phunware for help with a parking problem that was costing the airport millions of dollars in lost parking revenue. Phunware understood that a solution that provided directions to open airport parking lots could also form the foundation for customer-facing content for terminal maps and flight information.
Cisco and Phunware have partnered on several location-based service deployments, including the Ft. Lauderdale Airport.
