Last week was a busy week in San Francisco, and thanks to our good friends at Red Hat for an awesome Red Hat Summit! We kicked off the event after the first keynote with a packed crowd for the session Hot Topics in Containers, OpenStack and Hadoop.
Containers, OpenStack, and Hadoop are three of the most talked about topics in the industry today. In the session, we discussed the convergence of containers and OpenStack including projects Magnum, Kolla and Contiv. We also highlighted new communities and products including Open Container Initiative (OCI), Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), Cisco NFVI and Mantl/Shipped. The session featured a deep-dive on how Hadoop can be deployed on OpenStack with the Hadoop-as-a-Service (HaaS) Cisco Validated Designs (CVD).
Cisco’s Chief Technical Architect David Ward presented a Red Hat Summit keynote Open Source: the Forefront of Innovation and talked about the whole stack and community drinving innovation for open source. He followed the session with an interview with Chris Wright from Red Hat.
As we transition to Cisco Live next week in Las Vegas, we will continue the container and openstack conversation with a container and container networking session at 8:00 am Monday, July 11, before Chuck’s keynote. Register for the session! One of the topics we will cover in the session is Kubernetes. David Wang shared an interesting blog post on deploying Ceph for Kuberenetes, you can read it here.
Also on Monday at 1:00 pm, Lew Tucker will also be featured in an Open Source panel in the DevNet Zone. Register for the session!
Thanks to Red Hat for a great Red Hat Summit and we are looking forward to seeing everyone at Cisco Live in Las Vegas next week!
