Director

Public Sector Engineering & CTO

Mr. Kent is the Public Sector Sr. Director of Systems Engineering & Chief Technology Officer for Cisco Systems. In this role, he is responsible for managing the sales engineering team and driving Cisco’s technology strategy in the Public Sector.

Working with partners and customers alike, his team assists governments (State, Local and Federal), and education institutions leverage technologies to effectively meet mission/ business needs. Currently, his team is focusing on integrating technologies like virtualization & cloud computing, core networking, cybersecurity and collaboration tools into the Public Sector market.

Prior to this role, he served as the PS Director of Solutions and 5 years as the Director of Systems Engineering for Cisco Federal leading a team of 175 engineers focused on the design and deployment of integrated, enterprise communication and network platforms.

Mr. Kent has been active in the Public Sector communications field for over 20 years. Mr. Kent’s prior positions include ten years at Nortel Networks as the Director of Engineering and as a senior consulting engineer for Network Solutions, Inc.

Mr. Kent is a graduate of the University of Maine and holds a Master’s Degree from the Johns Hopkins University.
