Providing dependable wireless communication in the convention industry requires a combination of artful networking design, hardware strength from top-of-the-line equipment, and execution from skilled technicians and administrators. With the partnership of Cisco, the Smart City Networks team has been able to do just that for the more than 35 convention and meeting facilities we service across the country.
Over the past two years, the Santa Clara Convention Center (SCCC) has played host to over one thousand events, with each event seeking seamless connectivity and robust Wi-Fi bandwidth to support a myriad of mobile devices. By relying on the vast industry knowledge of our on-site Smart City Networks leads and the hardware reliability of Cisco, the SCCC can satisfy the WiFi demands of their attendees. Through Smart City’s implementation of a dynamic, scalable wireless network, the SCCC is capable of meeting the needs of all attendees, from 10 to 100,000.

Smart City manages hundreds of access points at the SCCC facility, where we’ve been the exclusive telecommunications provider for over 16 years. Our dynamic network allows for the creation of unique opportunities for show management to develop sponsorship opportunities using WiFi buyouts and creation of custom hotspots.
Together with Cisco and the Santa Clara Convention Center, we are currently in development of a pilot mobility application program that works in conjunction with the scalable wireless capabilities to enhance the attendee experience. Through this program, our network administrators can modify and focus wireless broadcasts based on real-time demand and predictive needs for seamless connectivity. This type of forward thinking will only continue to enhance the services we provide not just at the SCCC, but also in all of the convention centers and meeting facilities that we service.
With the rapid evolvement of mobile technology, a partnership with innovative industry leaders such as Cisco will ensure that event attendees continue to experience the state-of-the-art wireless connectivity that they have come to expect from Smart City Networks.

I regularly attend events at the Santa Clara Convention Center and WiFi speed and connectivity make a big difference – especially when you get hundreds of people communicating at once. Thanks for improving the attendee experience!
