The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a SAFETY Act Certification to Cisco for our Advanced Malware Protection for Networks technology. This certification follows an extensive DHS review and extends potential liability protections to Cisco’s customers that use AMP for Networks.

What is the Safety Act?

The Safety Act creates a system of risk and litigation management designed to ensure that the threat of liability in the event of an Act of Terrorism does not deter potential manufacturers or sellers of anti-terrorism technologies from developing, commercializing, and deploying technologies that could save lives.

The liability limitations available under the Safety Act apply to “claims arising out of, relating to, or resulting from an Act of Terrorism” where Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technologies have been deployed, and in today’s digital world that includes the cyber landscape. An “Act of Terrorism” generally means any unlawful act that causes harm to a person, property, or entity, in the United States and uses or attempts to use instrumentalities, weapons or other methods designed or intended to cause mass destruction, injury or other loss to citizens or institutions of the United States.

There are two levels of protection available under the Safety Act: Designation, and Certification. AMP for Networks has received Certification, which encompasses all the benefits provided under Designation, plus certain other protections.

Why we got Safety Act Certified?

To provide our customers with a measure of liability protection associated with a cyber attack.

How do AMP for Networks customers benefit from this?

As an AMP for Networks customer, you get the benefits of the risk mitigation and liability protection measures provided by the Safety Act.
