Do you need a server and storage solution for your remote sites, to ensure that your business critical applications are always available? Cisco and StorMagic have a solution for you.
Building on the success of our solutions for C-Series rack servers and E-Series blade servers for remote locations, Cisco and StorMagic are now offering UCS Mini preinstalled with SvSAN. Pre-installation means:
- a simple ordering process
- quicker installation
- time and money savings
All this means a lower total cost of ownership (TCO), while ensuring that operations keep trading, staff are productive and your customers are delighted.
UCS Mini is a flexible blade server solution. SvSAN is a virtual SAN that pools all of your servers’ local hard drives. It provides a scalable, fault tolerant pool of storage for all of the servers. Up to 8TB of storage in a single UCS Mini chassis. That’s not enough? You can directly attach C-Series rack servers to the UCS Mini Fabric Interconnects for even more space!
Many small business and remote sites have limited to no IT staff so they need an easy to manage solution. Both UCS Mini and SvSAN were designed for simplicity and can easily be supported locally or remotely, for single or multiple sites. There are many different management options to choose from: UCS Central, Cisco UCS Director, StorMagic vSphere plugin integration, and Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (Cisco / StorMagic). For more information, read the Cisco UCS Mini Software-Defined Storage with StorMagic SvSAN for Remote Offices Solution Overview solution overview, the Enterprise class HCI with Cisco UCS Mini and StorMagic SvSAN blog, or contact your Cisco or StorMagic partner.
What’s is going to be your position on FlexPod, VersaStack, and VCE etc. Are they meant for a different market / segment? Any clarity or/and legitimate views on Cisco’s strategy on Converged Infrastructure fabric is much appreciated. Regards,
Subrat,
Thanks for reading the blog and asking the question.
Cisco is about choice for your storage needs. UCS Mini supports a number of our Converged Infrastructure partners like Niimble (SmartStack), NetApp (FlexPod), EMC (VSPEX), and IBM (VersStack).
For some customers, those are not the right solution. Adding StorMagic pre-installed gives customers in the ROBO space a robust storage solution without needing an external storage array. It could be due to total storage needs being less than even a small array or lack of a local storage admin.
Hope this helps clear things up.
Cheers.
