First off, there are two things you need to know about this week’s guest on the Cloud Unfiltered podcast: 1) Barack Obama follows her on Twitter, and 2) She and her husband modified a Hummer to run on vegetable oil.
Those two things alone make her interesting enough (and cool enough) that I would be trying to hang out with her all the time if she lived anywhere near me. Lucky for her she lives in India, where she is safe from what would most certainly be a slew of invitations to lunch, workouts, book club—you name it, I’d be trying to get Geeta on board with it.
But then, as if the Twitter friendship with a former president and the eco-Hummer were not enough, it turns out that Geeta is the CTO of DeepCloud AI, a company that is working to bring AI-driven decentralized cloud computing to the world.
“What is decentralized cloud computing and why would we need it anyway?” you ask.
Decentralized cloud computing is when you pool unused compute and storage capacity from businesses and individuals, and make that capacity available to others through a cloud platform. And while most people in heavily populated urban areas don’t need it, there are definitely parts of the world where it would be useful. Places like Africa and South America where the closest data center is often very far away. Far enough that the latency introduced by the distance becomes troublesome, and cloud computing as a result becomes less attractive.
A decentralized cloud platform could give people in those regions access to local compute and storage resources with lower latency, and at the same time create an additional income stream for the companies and that provide those resources. Amazing, right?
So why hasn’t it taken off before? I don’t know. But I can tell you that Geeta and the team at DeepCloud AI are employing (surprise) AI and blockchain technologies in a way that not only makes decentralized cloud computing possible today, but really quite practical.
I don’t want to give everything away, so tune in to this week’s episode to hear Geeta explain exactly how it’s all going to work, including:
- What type of workloads the platform can handle
- Which technologies it supports
- How they secure user data
- What role blockchain plays in the whole thing
- How the AI matching engine protects users

And Geeta—if you’re reading this, call me. I think we should be friends.
